Tonsil Abscess
I've had an abscess on my tonsil for several days - I've treated it with salt water gargling, ibuprofen, and soothing warm liquids. The extreme pain has lessened but the abscess itself appears to have grown - in the beginning it was compact and bright white all over, but now covers a larger area but is patchy white with some of the normal color of my throat showing through within its border. A doctor has seen it and prescribed an antibiotic, but is it getting worse if appearing to grow?

Peritonsillar abscess is an emergency and if diagnosis is confirmed then it has to be treated aggressively by incision and drainage and intravenous antibiotics. If not treated properly then it may go for deep neck abscess such as parapharyngeal abscess
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
