Dear Doctor
We (me-35 and my wife-34) are married for 4 years. We are trying to conceive since then. We have never used any protection till date. I have hsv 2 infection. I have had outbreaks several times during last 4 years, and always had 500 mg zimivir tablet for a week so that the lesions go away. My wife never had any symptoms till date. I don't know whether my wife has the infection or not. Please advise - does hsv 2 affect fertility in man? Has this affected our attempts to achieve pregnancy? Will this make it more hard to achieve pregnancy? What do you think is the problem and course of action here onwards to conceive? We are very very very scared and worried. Please advise.

HSV2 is not directly associated with infertility, unless it’s so frequent that it interferes with regular intercourse. But four years of trying and not Conceiving even once is significant and you need complete work up for infertility. Your wife is 34 and that may be the watershed age after which a natural decline in fertility begins for women. Pls consult an infertility specialist at the earliest
