Tsh levels in second trimester
I m 19 weeks pregnant. My first trimester TSH levels were 2.85 and now it is 3.94. is it too high?. Did it already have effect on my baby or taking meds now can help? Please advise. Thank you.

In the first trimester upper limit of TSH is at 2.5 and in second its 3.0 Yes you're values are higher than the ones advised as per guidelines but you must take care of it, take medicines on time amd consult your obgyn regularly as advised. There are ill effects of higher TSH on delivery as well as the fetus but it shouldn't be very significant since you're on medication and it should come down to normal with those.

Avoid goitrogenic food items. Surprisingly, many common foods contain goitrogens, including: soy foods: tofu, tempeh, edamame, etc. certain vegetables: cabbage, broccoli, kale, cauliflower, spinach, etc. fruits and starchy plants: sweet potatoes, cassava, peaches, strawberries, etc. nuts and seeds: millet, pine nuts, peanuts, etc. 12 major foods to be included in the Indian Hypothyroidism Veg Diet Plan are 1. Iodized salt 2. Whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, oats, buckwheat are best. 3. Sea weed is a good source of iodine and especially for those with heart problems or high Bp who cannot eat much table salt. 4. Selenium rich foods like barely,  brazil nuts. 5. Garlic and onions. 6. Olive oil 7. Dals like Masoor dal, green moong dal , yellow moong dal , urad dal, toor dal and pulses 8. Antioxidant rich Raspberries and blackberries. 9. Other fruits like apple (rich in fiber), Avocado (rich in MUFA), Cherries, grapefruit, kiwi, papaya and prunes. 10. Vegetables like  Carrots, Tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, capsicum, Mushrooms, beetroot, ladies finger, potatoes, pumpkin, zucchini, onions. 11. Alfalfa sprouts 12. Include herbs like chillies, garlic, cinnamon, turmeric, parsley. Some of these raise metabolism.
