Hi. Uric acid is a waste product that is eliminated via kidneys in urine. Uric acid is produced by body either from endogenous(within the body sources ) or from exogenous sources, i.e from foods rich in PURINES. Purines are Nitrogen containing compounds found in foods.       Elevated Uric acid levels(Hyperurecemia) i.e more than 6mg/dl in females n more than 7mg/dl in males can cause NO SYMPTOMS AT ALL or May cause diseases like GOUT( type of arthritis.....joint pain disease) or KIDNEY STONES( UROLITHIASIS.) .   Here it should b noted that only 20% of high uric acid patients suffer from Gout n many Gout patients dont have elevated Uric Acid Levels.          CAUSES:--   PRIMARY 1) Body produces excess uric acid from Purines.             .     2) Kidneys fail to excrete enough of produced uric acid by the body.             SECONDARY CAUSES:--  These may range from  Chemotheraphy for some forms of Cancers, Diabetis, Metabolic Disorders.  METABOLIC SYNDROME which involves Obesity, Abnormal BP, Dysglycemia( blood sugar levels  disorder) Dyslipidemia(disorder of lipids....fats) .  Etc etc.              FOODS THAT CONTAIN HIGH PURINES N SHOULD B AVOIDED:  All organ MEATS ( Liver, Lungs) Meat extract, Gravy. Some kind of FISHES like Sardines, Tuna etc. SPINACH, BEANS, PEAS, CAULIFLOWER,  OATMEAL, .      YEAST N YEAST EXTRACTS(BEERS N ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES).  CAFFEINE.   SO this foods should be avoided.            FOODS CONTAINING LESS PURINES:    MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS( DAIRY) , Fresh FRUITS N VEGETABLES. EGGS. etc.            If high uric acid person dont have any symptoms, theres no neccessary immediate medications. BUT IF HYPERURICEMIA LEFT OVERLOOKED n gets prolonged , it can Cause GOUT N KIDNEY STONES N DISEASES. High uric acid levels also has role in Metabolic diseases, High BP, and other disorders. So its important to get ur Uric acid levels under control by following STRICT DIET N EXERCISE.     .            IF Diet doesnt lowers  Uric acid levels , then one needs MEDICATIONS to lower it under control n keep bodys production of uric acid under control.               Here I will like to add that AYURVEDIC medications without side effects works wonder in treating n eliminating Hyperurecemia. Hope u got much much info than expected.
