Usage of statins
My mother aged 66yrs ,who is already taking BP medicines (Telma CT40/6.25 and Amlong 2.5) has high LDL (167). LDL/HDL ratio 3.9. TCL/HDL RATIO - 5.3. total cholesterol -230. Cardiologist prescribed Rozavel 10 mg per day.after taking that for 6 days, she feels so sleepy. I have also read in internet that statins will give side effects. Is it ok to stop statins abruptly? Will there be any issue if the statin is stopped? Can LDL be reduced by diet?

Statin will not cause sleepiness. And anyways it has to be taken before bedtime. She should continue the drug as advised. This much LDL is unlikely to come down with diet modification.
