Weight loss surgery
I am a diabetic for last 10 years. Last week during my checkup, doctor asked me to reduce weight because my diabetes is getting worse. Can I go for weight loss surgery to control diabetes? Are there any risks if I go through with it?

Weight loss surgery can be helpful in obese diabetic patients. Most of our patients were able to come off their diabetes medications following weight loss. It is difficult to comment on whether you would benefit from weight loss surgery as i do not have any details about the type of your diabetes, medications and your weight. You may want to consult a qualified diabetologist.
