What are retinitis pigmentosa symptoms?
Hi am 28 years old male recently I have a complaint regarding seeing in the night. I have visited an ophthalmologist and he has said I have some retina defect. He used the term retinitis pigmentosa. Please explain me what exactly is this conditions and what are the symptoms of the same?

Retinitis pigmentosa is a disorder in which the retinal cells called rods are defective. These cells are specialised fr night vision. Defect in these leads to decrease in night vision which generally progressively decreases with age .

It's the congenital pigmentary degeneration of retina.till date there is no established treatment for it. Some research is going on at shankar netralaya Chennai.
