I am a 56 year old lady. For the first time in my life, I have developed a white tongue since a week which is not settling. What is the treatment of white tongue? Can this settle with home remedies or needs medicines to be taken? How soon will this problem resolve?

Your symptoms are suggestive of a condition called oral thrush but would need to see the tongue to confirm the diagnosis. I would advise you to meet a dermatologist so that you can be examined and undergo investigations such as CBC, HbA1c, serology markers, etc. You would require antifungal medications and an antifungal mouth paint for treatment.
