When to start solid food for baby
We have a baby boy 4 months old. His weight was 2.5kg when he born. Now his weight is 7.6 kg. He is completely on formula milk. I want to know the correct timing to start solid food for baby. And what type of food should be given initially.

Very good question, thanks for asking, most of the mothers does not know this. Ideally baby should be exclusively breastfed till 6 months of age. Now your baby is already on formula feeds. So by 5 months or 6 months you can slowly start giving Semi solid foods. It's better to wait till 6 months by that time baby's bowel will be mature enough to accept semi solid foods. You can start giving ragi/rice. Ragi will be better as it is having more iron content. Because most of the babies will be having low hemoglobin values from three or four months of age if you are giving iron containing foods like Ragi it will replenish the bone marrow and protect the child from anaemia. Start giving one type of food at a time that is one or two teaspoons, one serving per day and   if the child is accepting it properly weekly we can increase number of servings to two and after 1 month we can add a new diet. By 9 to 10 months of age we can slowly start giving small small solid foods. By that time we can start giving egg, initially white of the egg and after 1 month yellow also we can give.
