Tooth whitening (termed tooth bleachingwhen utilising bleach), is either the restoration of a natural tooth shade or whitening beyond the natural shade.
Restoration of the underlying natural tooth shade is possible by simply removing surface stains caused by extrinsic factors, stainers such as tea, coffee, red wine and tobacco. The buildup of calculus and tartar can also influence the staining of teeth. This restoration of the natural tooth shade is achieved by having the teeth cleaned by a dental professional (commonly termed "scaling and polishing")

Get your teeth evaluated by a dentist. The yellowness could be because of plaque and tartar formation on the teeth or your teeth could be naturally yellowish.
Teeth whitening or bleaching can be done to whiten the teeth. Prior to whitening, your teeth will have to be cleaned and polished anyway.
So, visit a dentist and get it evaluated. Get cleaning and polishing done. If the yellowness is due to external stains, they will come out with cleaning. If still you are not satisfied, you can go ahead with bleaching.

You can opt for bleaching- either in office bleaching or home bleaching in which your dentist will give you custom trays . It is very safe and effective
