Ive been on cepehalexin since oct 27th until 2 days ago for a UTI and Ive had abnormally large tonsils since before then and a mild soar throat and the antibiotic didnt take care of it and my doctor said"you might need your tonsils out" and seemed pretty sure they would need to come out. And the ENT he referred me to got me in ASAP which shows its urgent. I went through the antibiotics and they are STILL BIG! how likely do u think it is that I will need a tonsillectomy? Im anxious.

Just enlargement of tonsils is not an indication for undergoing tonsillectomy. If it is associated with recurrent attacks of throat pain and difficulty in swallowing which is persistent and troublesome in spite of repeating treatment then tonsillectomy can be considered
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
