Dr. Sreedhara Murthy sir is more than a doctor for my family. He has treated my daughter on multiple occasions. Sir performed fundoplication and placed the gastrostomy tube for my daughter who is a cerebral palsy patient. Let me highlight some of the main aspects of sir which parents need to take into account when deciding a paediatric surgeon:

1. Educate parents: Sir has all the patience in the world to answer your questions. I have met a lot of doctors who are always in hurry and don't have patience to hear you. Sir answers all ours questions, even when we have repeated multiple times. He educates us as to what the problem is, what to do, what not to do. A proper plan is put in place and shared with the parents.

2. Accessibility/Availability: This is one of the biggest asset when dealing with sir. He visits the hospital twice everyday. If you are an inpatient you are assured of two visits by him. Even on Sunday sir would make it a point to come over. When he is not present the paediatricians in the hospital co-ordinate very closely with him. There have been occasions where sir is awake at 2:00 AM giving instructions (in my daughter's case) and has himself come over at odd hours to handle emergencies. This is not something true with every surgeon. At best they say duty doctor or team doctor would handle, which is never the same.

3. Patient comfort: There is no extra test or a prick that sir prescribes. The treatment is to the point, nothing unnecessary. My daughter has chronic issues, which means I have visited so many doctors in so many hospitals. Based on that comparison I am 100% sure about sir's minimal treat maximum relief mantra.

It is unfortunate that we have very few doctors like Dr. Sreedhara Murthy in today's world.
