1. What are warts?
Warts are small and grainy outgrowths which are rough to touch. They are most commonly observed in the hands and fingers. It often affects skin which is scraped. Warts may sometimes appear like tiny black dots which are the clotted blood vessels under the skin. Warts can be of several types and are classified based on the part they affect, e.g., foot, hands or face.
2. Do I need surgery for warts?
If other treatments are not working, doctor may recommend a minor surgery in which warts in the form of extra tissue is cut out. It may lead to a small scar. Curettage is another surgical procedure in which a sharp tool is used to scrape off warts. It is generally used in combination with electrosurgery (burning).
