Like you have mentioned acne usually starts around 15-16 years with puberty and its mainly due to hormones.Acne can go on till 25-30 years of age then it subsides on its own.So during this period you need to continue the maintainance therapy once we treat your acne completely,as complete clearance is possible but complete cure during this age group is difficult. There are different treatment options for different stages of acne, acne spots and scars.Usually acne clears completely in 2-3 months if you follow proper regime as per your skin type.
Next Steps
Consult a dermatologist to advice you the proper plan of treatment till it clears completely as acne is not one time thing.Once your acne clears completely we treat blemishes and scars.
Health Tips
Avoid touching or picking your pimples as it can leave spots and scars.Avoid home based remedies like lemon, etc.Use face wash twice daily and go through my article on acne for more detailed information.
