Can lung x-ray detect cancer

Recently I had difficulty breathing I went to the doctor and he had asked to get a x-ray of my chest and face the X-ray report showed my lungs were clear and that I had a lung infection and sinusitis but I still have difficulty breathing could this condition be small cell lung cancer because I have the symptoms except for weight loss and coughing up blood or phglem this has been lasting for a month and am currently on medication prescribed by the doctor
