It is neither normal, nor serious. In fact as the pregnancy advances and you get further ultrasound scan done, there will be many changes in the position of placenta. I put it that it is a side effect of having been born in an era where Ultrasound Centres are as common as  grocery shops . Don't bother yourself about it because you or your Doctor can do nothing about it. And nothing may happen throughout your pregnancy.

You have low placenta. It will gradually move upward as the pregnancy advances. Tll then avoid traveling and intercourse .

Yes u are supposed to avoid travel and sexual abstinence to be maintained. With the follow up scans we have to see whether placenta is still low lying or it is moving up towards uterine fundus .
