I've had cold and cough a week back, the cold is gone but cough still persists. Doctor has suggested me grilinctus cough syrup but it has different variations like DX and BM. Which one should I go for? PS: I smoke but have stopped smoking since 2 days

Use plain grillinctus for productive cough, dx for dry cough. Bm only sfter consulting your doctor if you are an asthmatic or other lung conditions.
