Hi, Im Aarthi.. Im 36 yrs old... My Doctor prescribed me topiral 100 mg to prevent migraine but while going through side effects of the medicine in the internet i heard that medicine cause kidney, liver damage and hair loss... Is that true???... I have bipolar disorder too... Im on oxetol 300 mg and stalopam plus also... I just started topiral 100 mg... Im worried about side effects pls help me out... Pls advice...

Hi.. any medicine one takes will have side-effects. But when benefits outweigh the risks we need to take them. All the side effects mentioned may not occur in one person.. that depends on several factors like  age, interaction with other medicines etc. My advice to you is stop searching Google regarding the medications.. you will become more anxious. Start taking the medicine, if you notice any side-effects discuss with your treating doctor. Usually people get used to the medicines and side-effects disappear after a period of time. If still persisting and if they are troublesome,  then you may think of alternatives. All the best.

Side effects occur very rarely and that's the exact reason for frequent monitoring. Topiramate is relatively a good drug and follow up as advised by your psychiatrist
