These are just the painkillers to which reduce the pain temporarily. But the ligament stretching is always accompanied by the weakness of the muscles as you wont be able to use those muscles completely and the stability is almost gone because of the lack of support provided by the ligament.
Next Steps
Go to a physiotherapist.. Ultrasonic therapy +IFT +wax therapy +some strengthening exercises will be very helpful.
Health Tips
At home.. Rest +hot water fomentation +pain killer gel. Splint depending on the site of injury or type of the ligament (as you haven't described which ligament us injured/of which joint).
Avoid sitting Cross legged.
Avoid Squatting-
Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Ankle joint compromises stability to maintain mobility. Any strain / sprain leads to limitation of movement which in turn causes stiffness.
Medicines help to curb pain and swelling.
If you observe stiffness , visit a physiotherapist in your area for stretching and mobilization exercises.
