In my opinion you need to go for a thorough examination of your spine by an Orthopedics or a physiotherapist so that exact diagnosis can be made...till den you can do blood test like calcium , vitamin d , vitamin b 12...

Test ... Vit d,
Calcium, x-ray.
For heavy pain tk physiotherapy treatment and after relief do spine stretching and strength exercises.
Avoid toward bending and lifting heavy weight
As you are a student, you must be facing this issue because of prolonged and sustained postures for long periods. You must consult the nearby Physiotherapist for proper postural evaluation and corrections so that it can be dealt properly
Hot fomentation x twice daily.
Neck Exercises.
Neck Stretching.
Postural Correction.
Shoulder Shrugs .
Core Strengthening Exercises.
Take frequent Breaks at work
Use cervical pillow.
Use Back Support.
Self Massage the back of neck.
Mam if the pain of shooting type and is also radiating to whole or part of ur upper and lower limb it might be of nerve compression or nerve problem .firstly u should go for MRI and Xray imaging then u should consult an orthopaedic and then for physiotherapy for 10 to 15 days for pain management and for cervical and lumbar muscle strengthening exercises
