I have noticed an increased amount of hairfall recently and consulted a dermatologist who told me to get a blood test. My results (attached) show that I have an Iron deficiency. Could this Iron deficiency be the cause of my increased hairfall? Are there any other health concerns that are noticeable from this report? How should I proceed?

Hairfall can be due to various nutritional deficiencies.
One of the causes is folic acid and biotin deficiency.
But surely low iron lveles in not one of them.
You should get evaluated for a peripheral smear.
The report only shows serum ferritin levels which is an indicator of your available iron stores, which is low. It would be wrong to conclude that your low ferritin levels is the only reason for hairfall. It could very well be contributing to the condition.

Needs more extensive evaluation. Balanced diet helps.
Iron deficiency per se is not the cause of hair loss. About 70 % of Indians have Iron Deficiency. You should get a more comprehensive complete health package done from a reputed Laboratory. That may give some clues to your problem.

Hello, as you mentioned that you are experiencing hair fall recently and you your blood reports also suggests Iron Deficiency but there is no significant drop in hemoglobin so this might be a recent onset.
One of the causes of hair fall is anemia, which you are having (Iron Deficiency Anemia). The other causes include Thyroid problems, Autoimmune disorders, Hormonal changes, Scalp allergies, Dandruff, etc.
Here as per your blood report other than Iron Deficiency Anemia there is no such noticeable problem. Just to be in safer side it's better if you get your Thyroid Profile once.

Take
