You need to specify in which region of your mouth is this teeth situated
If its a front teeth then definitely it has to be taken care of..for it will surely affect your smile..
And if its one of your back teeth then it will need to be saved since the back teeth are involved in chewing..
Next Steps
in any case you need to meet an aesthetic or cosmetic dentist for a checkup who will advise you an appropriate treatment..leaving the tooth alone may not be the right idea now until the doctor sees it...

your tooth is broken, chipped, or fractured, treat it as soon as possible. Otherwise, your tooth could be damaged further or become infected, possibly causing you to end up losing the tooth. If tooth is chipped off just a small piece,it can be brought back to shape with a tooth coloured composite resin material . If a large piece of tooth breaks off or the tooth has a lot of decay, the dentist may grind or file away part of the remaining tooth and cover it with a crown, or tooth-shaped cap, made to protect the tooth and improve its appearance.
