I have a painful bump in my mouth. The pain is very sharp, almost as if i jammed a sharp crisp into the roof of my mouth. The bump itself is sort of squishy; I can push it against the roof of my mouth, but it is rather firm. I also have a picture if need be.

And this is an opinion based on your description without a look at the clinical picture of the area.
Posting a clinical picture would definitely help in arriving at a rational diagnosis.
And the most prudent step would be to visit a dentist for a proper clinical evaluation of the case so that the right treatment can be advised according to that.
