Since your father is a diabetic, it will take longer time than compared to normal individuals. The pain could be due to damage caused by the cellulitis. It will resolve slowly. Duration of the treatment cannot be said accurately without examining the patient and seeing the progression of the disease. If there is any incense in pain or swelling or reddness then consult your general surgeon immediately.
