I am suffering from fungal infection on my scrotum from last 6 months. Initially it was on my groin also but that cleared out in 30 days. On scrotum it is not going. The skin on scrotum is red and scaly. I have been having itraconazole and antifungal cream for 5 months with consultation of dermatologist but it's not going away. What is it ?

Don't worry...100% cure possible..Fungal infection or Ring worm.. when occurs in groin, called as jock itch.. Usually fungal infection is common in moist areas of body like skin folds..It's mostly circular or round in appearance.. May be red or black in colour.. Treatment depending on the type and severity.. Avoid sharing clothes, towels and soap; sweating also increases it..As it has to be differentiated from eczema and infection, its a must to see and confirm the diagnosis for proper treatment..So, please send photos of the affected area by direct online consultation for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

After consulting a dermatologist and being prescribed the right medication, if the lesions persist, its usually because of a hygiene issue. The sweat and moisture that accumulates in the groin area is what is aggravating and keeping these lesions on you. Try using an antifungal soap and powder as well, along with the cream and tablets.
Next Steps
Keep the area dry and sweat free. Keep applying powder.
Health Tips
If it gets worse even after this, then re consult your dermatologist.
