Consultation about recurring depression.
I suffer from a number of mental issues; such as depression, anxiety, stress & low self esteem - to the point that I'm really unmotivated to become functional in my life. I have had a long history of depression, & I've once been on medication for it but not for long. I want to take professional help; medicines or therapy, anything - I just want to at least become functional for my day to day life.

Depression coupled with stress and anxiety can have ripple effects on everything you do. I empathise with you. Remember that YOU MATTER. At the moment eating well/exercising/meditating/sleeping well will all seem a herculean climb. What you need is a patient ear to hear you through and always remain hopeful as disheartening situations are. Try to stay positive.

Stress and anxiety can be challenging to deal with, but there are some strategies that may help. Here are a few ideas: Practice relaxation techniques: Deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery are all effective ways to calm your mind and reduce physical tension. Exercise regularly: Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and anxiety. Even a short walk or yoga session can help you feel better. Prioritize self-care: Make sure you're taking care of yourself by getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and engaging in activities you enjoy. Challenge negative thoughts: When you notice negative thoughts creeping in, try to challenge them by asking yourself if they're really true. Often, our worries are based on unfounded assumptions. Here are some affirmation you can practice for confidence: I am confident in my own abilities and trust in my own journey. I trust that I have everything within me to achieve my goals and succeed in all that I set out to do. I believe in myself and my strengths, and I know that I am capable of overcoming any obstacles that come my way.
Next Steps
Seek professional support: Support from a mental health professional would be very helpful. We therapist or counselor can provide you with the support and tools you need to stay on track.
Health Tips
Remember that everyone experiences stress and anxiety from time to time, and it's okay to ask for help when you need it. You are deserving of love and care, even when it's difficult to believe.

My suggestion for you right now would be to consult a psychiatrist, who is almost sure to put you on medication. But, before doing that, you will have to decide with all the sincerity that you will follow the advice of that doctor without any hesitation. Please also consult a psychologist. You seem to be in depression that requires long term medication and also psychotherapy. Your recovery will depend a lot on your commitment to the line of treatment/ therapy that the doctor/ psychologist will suggest to you.

In depression dealing and fighting with self is the hardest part. We want to feel a bit better or a bit motivated to do things but the rule is to do things to feel better. Sharing your thoughts and learning  to take distance from the negative cycle will bring you relief and setting a  positive impact giving the active action system will uplift  the  spirit. It's a long hard journey but definitely achievable and fulfilling. Consult a psychologist to help uou in this journey and bring changes in life. More power to you. Hoping for your betterment soon.

I appreciate that you are open to seeking professional help. Dealing with mental health conditions can feel overwhelming and it's completely understandable that it's affecting your motivation. But the most important thing is that you are not alone. There is help available. Psychotherapy and medication can help you in managing the challenges and getting you back to the feeling functional in your daily life and improve quality of life. Psychotherapy can provide you a safe space to talk about your feelings, thoughts or what's going on etc, learn strategies to manage the difficulties, such as stress, anxiety etc and build your self esteem. Consulting a clinical psychologist for psychotherapy is advisable. Combination of medication and psychotherapy is always beneficial. Medication can help regulate your mood and make therapy even more effective. A psychiatrist is the right person to determine if you require medicine.
Next Steps
Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.
Health Tips
Seeking help is the sign of strength. consult with a psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist.
