breastfeeding a 1-month-old baby and have cough and cold, it's important to choose medicines that are safe during lactation. Many over-the-counter meds can pass into breastmilk, so caution is necessary. Safe options: Paracetamol (500 mg) – for fever or body ache (safe) Steam inhalation – helps with nasal congestion Saline nasal drops – for blocked nose Honey + ginger – natural remedy (only for adults) Warm fluids – like turmeric milk or soups Avoid: Antihistamines like cetirizine, chlorpheniramine – may reduce milk supply or make baby drowsy Strong decongestants or combinations like cold & flu tablets without doctor’s advice If symptoms persist beyond 3–5 days or if fever increases, consult a doctor to prescribe lactation-safe medications. Hi, If you don't have a fever associated and if the symptoms don't lead to breathing difficulty, chest pain or low oxygen levels you don't need hospital care or antibiotics. Take steam inhalation and  eat well- only home food. Take enough water (2-2.5 litres per day) You can take normal saline nasal spray for symptom relief. Do consult if required

For URTI relief, try home remedies like staying hydrated with warm liquids, using a humidifier, gargling with salt water, and consuming soothing foods like honey, ginger, and herbal teas, such as peppermint or chamomile, to help ease congestion and discomfort.

**Dear Patient,**  I understand your concern about managing cough and cold while ensuring the safety of your 1-month-old baby. Since you are breastfeeding, it’s crucial to avoid medications that could pass into breast milk and affect the infant.  For mild symptoms:  - Steam inhalation (3-4 times daily) and hot saline gargles (2-3 times daily) are safe and effective.  - Stay hydrated and rest adequately.  For persistent or severe symptoms:  - Consult a doctor before taking any medication, as self-medication can be risky. Commonly prescribed safe options (under medical supervision) may include:    - Paracetamol (for fever/body ache) in recommended doses.    - Antihistamines like Levocetirizine (less sedating) if absolutely necessary.  Avoid Azithromycin or other antibiotics without confirmation of a bacterial infection. Important Note: Your baby’s health is a priority. Please **schedule a consultation with me** for personalized advice tailored to your condition and breastfeeding needs.  **For immediate assistance, reach out on WhatsApp: Eight-Zero-Zero-Nine-Eight-Two-One-Three-Three-Two.**
