I'm male, 23 years old, 167 pounds, 6 feet tall. For about 4-5 months I've been having this on-and-off occurrence of "crackling" sounds in my ears that sometimes occur immediately after hearing sound or speaking. It's much more prominent in my left ear, but happens in my right ear as well. It isn't a pressure-related "popping" that is fairly common (and a recent audio test at my local ENT confirmed that I have no pressure or fluid buildup in my ears). Is this a serious problem? Thanks!

We need to find out the main cause. If we can find out the cause then it is easy to treat. But it can be idiopathic. If there is no infection then tinnitus masker can be used. Do not pay much attention towards sounds coming from ears.
