Depression or hypothyroidism
How do I know whether my depression is actually depression or it is due to hypothyroidism, I was diagnosed with depression 3 years ago but at that time my thyroid report was normal, so I was given with antidepressants these years and they reduced my symptoms but didn't resolve my depression, recently my antidepressants were not working, my doctor got thyroid checked and diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism ( tsh 5.8 ) because I also had symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, thin hair, puffy face, dry skin, cold and heat intolerance, difficulty in thinking, Sir please tell me what is this, depression and hypothyroidism separately or only hypothyroidism?

Depression is a Reactive Depression  most of the time. Reactive Depression means that the Depression has set in as a reaction to some circumstances. There might have been different circumstances earlier. Circumstances may change. Your Thyroid report is not all that bad. It can't cause Depression.
