I just want this question-answered by all the psychiatrists. The qn is that I'm suffering from depression from last 5 years and right now I'm having mild symptoms like sweating of upper body when trying to learn or study or watch video on utube. It is a kind of feeling as if I cant grow my intelligence now. When I tell the doctors about this they say that u need to take lithium now. I just have one question that when is it given? when the oerson is not recovering at all or when only certain symptoms are there which are not going?? Plz ans

Quite difficult to answer based on the information given. I have worked for over 6 years at nimhans and I can tell you that Lithium as a part of depression is usually used for bipolar depression or for resistant depression. The timing depends on factors like response to other antidepressants, duration of long standing depression etc. You could consult any psychiatrist for further details. Hope this helps.
