Dermatology and androgenic alopecia?
Sir Why doctors say bald people to say come and consult with us. When we know that every dermatologist have only two medicines for baldness. Minoxidil and finasteride. And 99% prescribe them in every type of baldness in every age of patients with some multivitamins. And every doctors knows that how much they are harmful.  Now another one procedure is prp which is harmless but not surely effective. So why dermatologist don't admit that no need of consultations please try these two medicines.

Hi. I' d like to put forward my thoughts here. 1. Its very similar to the thought that - fever may get better with paracetomol and antibiotics! Then why should one visit the doctor!?! DO you really feel that google search can satisfy all your medical diagnoses, queries and issues ? 2. Yes treatment options for androgenetic alopecia are less. But all treatments don't work to the same extent in every individual. Nor there is a need to use all of them in every individual. 3. All kinds of hairfall or balding is not androgenetic alopecia. So yes you need to see the doctor to help him/her evaluate what is the cause of hairfall. Minoxidil and finasteride are NOT PRESCRIBED FOR EVERY KIND OF BALDNESS. 3. Treatment to be taken for hairfall is purely a voluntary and elective decision of the person who wishes to seek treatment for the same - it is not life threatening an issue! You need not visit the doctor if u do not wish to seek consultation. For all those who are comfortable with hairfall and balding due to androgenetic alopecia, I would not give them treatment and rather say - Bald is indeed beautiful :) ! 4. It may be wrong to say that Finasteride and Minoxidil are "harmful" - they are FDA approved for treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Feel free to discuss the side effects of the medication with your treating doctor. 5. Lastly, yes, androgenetic alopecia - is not easy to treat and needs long term treatment - including trying different options at different stages of balding considering the age and lifestyle of the patient! This is where the role of the doctor becomes even more important! I hope I have tried to help you with some answers. Wishing you the best of health, skin and hair. Warm regards.
