I didn't wear my retainer for some time and i develop a very small tooth gap, if i start wearing the retainer again, will it get corrected??? Can retainers close small gaps?

No, the retainers are for maintaining the teeth in their place, they do not actively participate in any tooth movement. But you should continue to wear the retainer to atleast maintain the teeth in their position.
Retainers won't close the gap. But wear the retainer so that the teeth don't get more displaced.
You will have to put braces again to close the spaces.

It is very unlikely for retainers to be correcting any space between teeth. They are used to maintain the teeth in that particular position. It is best to consult your dentist who completed your orthodontic treatment.
