It is likely to be a muscle spasm. You may require anti spasmodics and antacids. The following steps may help:
- Don't skip meals, have a clean and well balanced diet.
- Reduce/ Avoid spicy, fried, fatty, junk and oily food
- Avoid/ Limit drinking coffee, tea and carbonated drinks to once a day
- Exercise regularly (minimum 30 mins)
- Increase daily intake of water to 3.5 liters
- Avoid/Stop smoking and drinking
- Reduce stress through methods such as yoga/meditation.
- Apply a hot water bag over the area that's hurting
If problems persist or worsen, Kindly visit the ER at the earliest

This may be related to muscle trauma related to gym which you might be unaware during exercises. if no swelling then this may not related to rib bone.
Please withhold gym activity. For symptomatic relief you may try
tab. Thiospas A 4 mg twice a day after meal.
