Adenoid is a normal tissue which is nothing but aggregation of lymphoid tissue. Sometimes enlargement of Adenoid can cause symptoms ranging from simple snoring, nasal obstruction, mouth breathing to obstructive sleep apnea. If your son is suffering from significant symptoms then he needs treatment in the form of surgery . If symptoms are intermittent and not severe then he can be managed conservatively
