Though the chloramphenicll can be sazfely used . However for proper guidance please share the close up pic of his eyes with information about pain redness watering discharge itching and blurring of vision Or consult an ophthalmologist nearby .

Hello Chloramphenicol ointment is safe for infants. Redness and discharge could be due to conjunctivitis. Having said that it is provisional diagnosis. Kindly share photos of your eyes so that I may guide you better
