Acne at your age is quite common and can be triggered by various factors, including hormonal changes, diet, and skincare routine. To address the issues of persistent acne, blackheads, and whiteheads, I would recommend the following steps:
1. Skincare Routine: Use a gentle cleanser twice daily to remove excess oil and dirt. Consider using a salicylic acid-based cleanser, which can help unclog pores.
2. Topical Treatments: You may benefit from using products containing benzoyl peroxide or retinoids to reduce acne. Apply these as directed, typically in the evening.
3. Exfoliation: To address blackheads and whiteheads, incorporate gentle exfoliation once or twice a week, but avoid over-exfoliating as it can irritate your skin.
4. Diet and Lifestyle: Stay hydrated and try to avoid high-glycemic foods (like sugar-rich snacks) and dairy, which can sometimes exacerbate acne. Incorporate antioxidant-rich foods like fruits and vegetables to support skin health.
5. Avoid Picking or Squeezing: This can worsen inflammation and lead to scarring.
If your acne persists or worsens, it might be beneficial to explore prescription treatments, including oral medications or stronger topical agents.
