Melacare cream contains steroid and should not be used for a long time. It can cause thinning of your skin and photosensitivity, so you should stop it.
It also contains hydroquinone, which is a depigmenting agent in the short term but over long term use, its crystals will deposit in the skin and cause orange-brown pigmentation which is more difficult to treat.
There are safer creams and you should opt for those.
Sun protection is equally important in preventing further pigmentation. You should use sunscreens plus physical measures like umbrella and scarf to protect yourself from the sunlight.
