Therefore, we advise the couples to investigate for infertility after 1 year of regular trying. • In some couples, waiting for 1 year is not advised. They are having high risk factors for infertility. In such cases, we advise to test if they fail to conceive after 4-6 months of trying. These include- women with age more than 35 years, irregular periods, painful periods, painful sex, previous operations in uterus/ tubes/ ovaries, endometriosis, PCOS and previous cancer treatment; and men with previous operations in genital area, sexual problems, diabetes, varicocele, hormonal problems and previous cancer treatment. • Therefore, we start treatment when you have been trying for 6-12 months and have done some tests. • However, if you feel you cannot wait for long time to try, before doing the tests, you can do the tests.
