Fainting and dizzy
Hello Doctors Good Evening. This is what happened to my friend. She went to a local Post Office yesterday and fainted. She said she didn't consume any food or water and didn't had a sleep prior night coz of office stress...work from home. Just want to tell you that she is not a thyroid patient and she is not diabetic either. Her HB is12.5. She immediately went to a local clinic. They checked her sugar level. It was 65. And BP was 110/70. Pls advise as she is feeling very weak. Due to lockdown I can't go to meet her. She lives alone. What if she faints in the bathroom. No one is there. All I know she is a very strong girl. Height 5.3..Weight is 46.. Regards. Any advice is highly appreciated. Also pls tell me can a non diabetic person have low sugar level.. ???

What is her age? Is she already on some medications? Yes it is possible for a non diabetic to have low blood glucose levels and in her case as you already mentioned that she didn’t take enough food or water so that could be the possible reason. Plz ask her to keep Glucose Powder (Glucon-D) ready at home. Explain her the symptoms of low glucose level (sweating, palpitations, dizziness, tremors) and to immediately consume glucose powder should the symptoms arrive. Although she needs a detailed workup in a hospital for further evaluation (ECG, 2D echo, TFT, CBC,etc).

All this happened beacause of poor hydration and food intake...summers can really increase the water demand of body...and dehydration is common if intake not increased appropriately. So just ask her to eat something every 3-4 hrly..and have ample of fluids like lemon water, ors, buttermilk, juices etc. Yes...prolonged fasting can cause sugar levels in mid 60s in a non diabetic person.
