Black discoloration may be due to staining or tartar formation and it may also due to initial caries so go for proper evaluation at nearest dental clinic if it will be any stain or tartar then you should go for scaling that means cleaning of teeth and if there is any decay then you should go for tooth x-ray  so that it will be treated by filling or root canal treatment

There might be a history of trauma to the teeth, now there are chances that tooth is necrosed and discolored, prefer a visit to dentist . 90% RCT followed by crown is required

If black stains are deposited from outside , they can be removed by cleaning or scaling If black stains are coming from inside the tooth crown , teeth whitening may help If the crown itself is getting discoloured slowly , a ceramic (metal free) crown or veneer can be given to mask up , but the reason for discolouration needs to be found out first . Discoloured crowns are often due to trauma to the tooth years back ,in that case Root canal is indicated before going to cosmetic masking up with veneer or crown
Next Steps
Visit dentist to find out what kind of stain

There are many reasons of blackening of tooth. Either it may be just black stains which can be removed by cleaning or the cavity which can be treated either by normal filling or the RCT followed by cap depending on the severity of the cavity. You need to consult the dentist for the proper diagnosis and treatment.

Namaskaram, Discoloration of teeth can be due to many reasons like the stains ( intrinsic and extrinsic ). These can be addressed by professional scaling and whitening treatments .But when a tooth turns black it should be addressed immediately to rule out the possibility of infection which turns the teeth into a non vital one. A non vital tooth based on the infection can be treated with a root canal followed by a cap ( crown ) or if it is infected to more than rescuing point it is to be extracted . Kindly visit a dentist so that a x-ray can be taken to accesses the infection and give you the best possible treatment. Team Shambhala.
