Hair loss after having viral rashes.
In the month of February I had viral rashes in my entire face, neck, chest and back. I cured it by applying calaminol. After that I found hair loss in patches in 3 areas on my head. Slowly with time I started loosing my hair from sideways and from all over the head. My hairline from sideways has gone really backwards and hair loss from all over the head is still continuous. I consulted a doctor, after analysing the blood reports,he gave me morr f 5% minoxidil finasteride lipid solution, Zycafy M shampoo, boikare od biotin tablets and vitamin d tablets as well. He has given me these medicines to apply for 3 months. Now I have been using these medications for the last 20 days... but hair loss is still continuous and I am seeing no result. So what should I do?... should I continue using these medications or consult any doctor or change my medication??? Plzz help me with this...

There are many reasons for hairfall or thinning of hair on the scalp. So first and foremost we have to find the cause with the help of detailed history and examination. Some of the common causes are nutritional deficiency, hormonal causes like androgenic alopecia or patterned baldness, hypothyroidism, telogen effluvium etc. Unless we find and treat the cause there is no point in giving non specific treatment. Oils or shampoos do not have any effect on hair growth as they are not absorbed in the skin. Moreover, you should never self treat with anything. Please send photographs using online consult option for proper diagnosis and detailed prescription.
