Hips hurt after sitting

My right hip has been hurting for the past couple of days. 3 or 4 years ago I got hurt and I hurt my left hip, but I never went to the doctor for it because I thought I was fine. Well, ever since then my left hip has been hurting until a couple of days ago when my right hip starting hurting. It feels just like the way my left hip was hurting.

How long should I avoid sitting cross-legged after femur fracture? I had broken proximal femur 6-7 months back, underwent ORIF, plates and screws are still in place.
