Last night I discovered a cavity forming in one of my molars. It has just started. Looks like a small black line. I can't see a doctor right away, busy with work. But I would like to stop it from growing any further before I see a dentist. Any advice on how to do that? Like food items to avoid or changes to my dental hygiene routine(a brush twice a day and rinse after almost every meal)?

If it is an initial caries ( its called incipient caries) you can prevent further spread by the usage of flouridated tooth paste, mouth wash rinse and flossing. ( Dental floss is available in market). It is applicable only for initial caries, if it has gone beyond your enamel layer you must seek treatment soon. Otherwise it is definitely going to spread further.
