Can you develop hypertension within 2 weeks, i had bp 122/75 2 weeks before, but now everytime i check its above 140/90 sometimes 160/90 sometimes 150/90 , sometimes 140/90, my bp has.shoot up in last 3 days only though, while i am having anxiety but its not so over the top, should i hetr myself checked for hypertension, i have no other conditions except high cholesterol and overweight, also i am taking anti anxiety tabs, thats why i am askin should i go get an consultation with cardiologist or should i seek an psychiatric, no one in family has bp, heart issue,etc.

Hi. If you have no symptoms then try monitoring your BP at home over next 1-3 weeks. Measure in a calm quiet room after 10 min of rest and maintain a chart. If majority of values are more than 140/90 indicates you might be having Hypertension and then you should consult a doctor for further work up of young hypertensive Alternatively you could do ABPM (Ambulatory BP monitoring test) and meet a doctor to confirm if you indeed have hypertension.
Next Steps
Seek consultation as it will be easier for you to do the evaluation and if all tests are normal your Anxiety issue can be addressed, medicines adjusted
