Is Lanap Required?
I got a sudden bump behind my front teeth a month ago followed by cold sores and fever. I got a deep cleaning of the teeth initially itself. The fever and mouth ulcers took more than a week to get better. Mouth ulcers, gum inflammation and most things are resolved now but there's still slight inflammation in the gums and slight pain when I chew from front teeths. I consulted couple of dentist as I wanted second opinion, one is asking me to get a lanap while the other perio is saying to just get one more round of deep cleaning with some antibiotics. I am inclined towards lanap but not sure if I should get it considering if there are any side effects associated with the same. I have attached my OPG xray with this for evaluation of my teeth.

LANAP makes use of laser for deep cleansing your gums .This can help you to reduce the inflammation.
Next Steps
Get a thorough examination done by a dentist. It will help the dentist to rule out the exact cause of your pain

Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) is a laser-based treatment for gum disease. It's designed to remove infected gum tissue and promote the regeneration of healthy tissue. LANAP can be effective in treating gum disease and promoting gum health. However, as with any medical or dental procedure, it's important to weigh the benefits against potential risks and consider your individual situation. Before deciding on any treatment, here are a few points to consider: Second Opinion: It's always a good idea to seek a second opinion if you're unsure about a treatment recommendation. Consulting with different dental professionals can provide you with more information to make an informed decision. Treatment Options: Both deep cleaning with antibiotics and LANAP can be effective treatments for gum issues. Each has its own advantages and considerations. Discuss the pros and cons of each option with your dentists to make an informed choice. Risks and Benefits: Consider the potential risks and benefits associated with each treatment. LANAP is generally considered safe, but as with any surgical procedure, there can be risks. Your dentist can provide more details about potential side effects and success rates. Long-Term Care: Regardless of the treatment you choose, maintaining good oral hygiene practices and regular dental checkups are essential for long-term gum health. Discussion with Dentist: Have an open and thorough discussion with your dentists about your concerns, treatment options, and expected outcomes. They can provide more specific information based on your individual oral health condition. Personal Preference: Your comfort and preference also play a role in your decision. If you have any concerns about LANAP, don't hesitate to discuss them with your dentist. Remember, each individual's case is unique, and treatment recommendations should be tailored to your specific needs. If you're considering LANAP, be sure to have a detailed discussion with your dentist to understand the procedure, potential benefits, and any possible risks.

Opg doesn’t reveal anything as such. Cold sores along with fever could be unrelated to the bump in your oral cavity if only scaling could resolve the problem. My suggestion would be to get yourself physically examined by a qualified dentist.
Next Steps
Please share a picture of the bump if possible

I will prefer you to go for deep cleaning once again coz there are high probability your issue will be resolved after a deep cleaning + maintaining good oral hygiene & using mouthwash if still after deep cleaning the issue is not resolved then go for lanap …. try simpler procedures first even if that doesn’t help then go for other procedures.

Hi, I suggest you get an X-Ray IOPA/RVG taken for the tooth where the swelling is seen. This is to rule out any periapical infection to the tooth. In the OPG no significant cause can be seen.
