Kitten paw scratches on hands
My son age 30 years got minor scratches from the kitten on his hand while talking it out from the wheel of car. Two months kitten tried to bite but it has no teeth so it pressed the skin. He took tetanus vaccine within 24 hour but now some one has suggested for rabies vaccine. Please advise if it is required, if yes within how many hours? Thanks

Rabies vaccination should be administered as soon as possible after a potential exposure to rabies, ideally within 24 hours. However, even if there is a delay, it is still important to seek medical attention and receive the vaccine, as prompt post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is crucial in preventing rabies irrespective of the time lapse after animal exposure.
Next Steps
Kitten scratch and kitten bite without teeth - • Kitten Scratches: If a kitten scratches you, especially if the skin is broken, there is a potential risk of rabies transmission. Although the risk from a scratch is lower than from a bite, it is still important to take it seriously. • Kitten Bites Without Teeth: Even if a bite seems minor or if the kitten doesn’t have fully developed teeth, any exposure to saliva through broken skin can potentially transmit rabies.
