I can't focus on my homework. I can work and do anything else, but I can't do homework. I want to know if it's because of a mental issue, or if there's another reason.

Ok I understand your problem there may be 2 possibilities
1.You are not able to focus due to your fault .
2.you are suffering from lack of concentration disease.
Let me give solution of the first
MeditateMeditation is a major to this like an elixir if you meditate properly you will get results within a month .Harvard university reports suggest with 3 months of meditation brain size changes increase in intelligence, love, concentration , memory and decrease in tension ,stress and rage.
PracticeIn home study for 1â2 hr continuously in your table .Few months before exam give whole length paper before exam.
Social mediaForget about it you can play games a bit but not this.
Mobile put your mobile aside in silent mode so that you are not distracted.
Small study hours break your study hour into small periods each 1â2 hours more than 2 hours the concentration breaks so no use.
ObservationObserve nature forget everything and observe every movement of leaf ,wind blowing , smooth sound of water just see it's beauty. Some may think you mad !!lol but it increases the concentration power.
ExamsPractice giving exam in coaching institute get the habbit analyse how many are silly mistakes make a graph to see whether you are improving .
Exam dayBefore exam go to wash room take 30 deep breathe it reduces tension I have used it .You can give a dot in omr as you mark in question paper so if you change the answer it won't be detectedExSee in 32 by chance I gave B but then marked C the C is only detected I used it best method. If you mark at last and leave a blank then there is a huge chance that the whole mcqs next to it become wrong I have seen many such people.
Now what if it is a disease:
1 .It may be due to deficiency of Vitamin D3.
2.Due to thyroid hyposecretion. You may check your Vitamin D3 level and T3 and T4 test .
Try it I also did many silly mistakes but in exam I was cool did only 1 wrong marking but due to invilatilor related problem I got 5 minutes less and messed up physics due to hurry and lost 15 marks but my biology and chemistry was perfect .I hope it will work for you.
Next Steps
Before starting any work you should know the purpose of that work I.e why is this work important to me? What if I don't do it what will be its consequences? & what if I do it whole hearted ,what will I gain? When you are clear about all those (above) things ,you have made a strong base/foundation in your mind. This will help you to concentrate and not get deviated. EVERYTIME YOU THINK I AM GETTING DISTRACTED ,REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO,after you have made a strong foundation you can begin with the work.Follow each tip for maximum result. Make a timetable such that in each studying session you have a maximum time interval of 50 minutes or less according to your capacity.Because the brain also needs breaks. Keep yourself hydrated and if u are hungry then eat something and then sit for studies.BECAUSE STOMACH COMES BEFORE STUDY IN DICTIONARY :). Make sure you have kept a water bottle besides you and you have gone to the loo, before the session, cause concentration takes time to build ,these small things can easily break the concentration. Avoid multitasking, keep your mobile away from your Line Of Sight, and in the silent mode.keep all the required books nearby, which you are going to study in those 40â50 min. You can keep an alarm for taking a 5 min break after those 40â50 min. It is recommended that you study in a cool ,calm ,noiseless and an aromatic room(with nice smell ,use incense sticks). And use a normal Chair and Table setup as your WORKSTATION. If you are on bed you will not know when you fell asleep :). Distraction can also be avoided if you use a study lamp ,when the light focuses only on your book, there are less chances of getting distracted by the other objects in the room. It is preferred that you read loudly while you are reading,it helps in better retention and creates more focus. After studying every chapter/Unit ,close the book and write down whatever you have perceived after reading. This will help you to know which points you are forgetting during revision and it become a short note which will help you ,on the night before the examination. Make mindmaps, acronyms, watch videos related to the subject, share it with your friends it will help you to retain the information in your mind. Use SANDWICH technique for keeping the studies interesting I.e put a boring subject session in between two interesting subjects session. I don't know this is true or not but somebody recently told me that if you wear shoes and study you will be more focussed. He told the reason that if you are bare foot then your legs will try to wander, and this will have an effect on your mind.I have not tried this but please let me know, your take on this in the comments section below. So thats all for now ,I can remember only these things .I will edit if I get to know something interesting.Post your awesome ideas below in the comments section. :)

I wouldn’t call it a mental issue. Not at least with the limited information you provided here. So it could be one of the few things: 1) You don’t like what you study and hence don’t fancy doing homework 2) You want to get away with work that is easy and doesn’t require much mental effort like studies and homework 3) You are more physical in the kind of work you like to do so sports would have suited you better than books and pencils 4) You don’t have any inspiration from teachers who make the subjects boring for you 5) You have not-yet good attitude towards responsibility 6) People force you to do Home-work and you can’t thrive under pressure
Which one do you think your reason is?

Figure out your reason. Seek Counselling if need be!

As long as you are doing other works, I wouldn’t think it’s a mental issue. You are just discriminating against homework. You just have to find out why!
