The kind of pain you have described can be attributed to a number of causes and pin pointing one needs structured evaluation:
1. Have you sustained any injury to your arm or shoulder before the onset of pain?
2. Does the skin of hand look abnormally cold or hot?
3 Are your nails breaking easily?
4 Do you have swelling of hand?
5. Are you diabetic?
6 Do you have pain at the back of neck and feel tingling in the fingers?
7. Has your grip strength weakened?

For the time being i can only tell you the possibilities :
