Discomfort in right side of throat since last 6-8 months. Problem in swallowing. Muffled voice sometimes. Had history of acidity and taken its medicine for 60 days but no relief. Was prescribed allergy medicine by one ENT specialist but had no effects. flexible laryngoscopy done and was diagnosed with Lingual tonsil hypertrophy. Doctor suggest surgery (laser) and also biopsy. He was a big time somker but has quit smoking since last one year. Is there any alternative to treat this apart from surgery? What are the chances of it being cancer?

Hello there.
I can understand your concern.
Im afraid there are no alternatives available for his concern as of now and judging from your description.
Better to get it done.
Kindly consult a ENT specialist in person for durther evaluation and management.
