Any known triggers for lip darkening should first be address. Constant lip licking, sun exposure, overuse of cosmetics such as lipsticks, smoking etc are few of the most common ones and should mindfully be avoided. Topical creams mostly are not good enough for lip pigmentation. But constant moisturisation and using a sunscreen every 3 hours are very essential. Lasers are usually the most effective modality of treatment to target the pigmentation. Usually one session a month for 5-6 sessions can help improve appearance to a huge extent.

Just treating pigmentation without finding the cause may not have given results.

4/5 sessions of pico laser are recommneded. Also the number of sessions vary to how you respond after the first session. There are peels available as well, that when alternated with the pico laser will help give you the best result.

Pico laser can be a great choice for treating dark lips, especially if creams like Melalumin haven’t given you the results you’re hoping for. This laser targets pigmentation gently, breaking it down into smaller particles that your skin can naturally clear away. It is a safe, effective option and often gives a visible difference after a few sessions. Usually, for lips, you might need about 4 to 6 sessions, depending on the depth of pigmentation. Each session is spaced around 3 to 4 weeks apart. We assess after each session to see how your lips are responding and decide if we need more sittings. The treatment itself is quite comfortable, with minimal downtime. We also have other lip lightening treatments that give safe and long lasting improvement in lip colour such as polynucleotide lip boosters, NCTF and more. As for the results, they are quite long-lasting, but it’s important to know that lifestyle habits can affect how well they stay. If you avoid factors that cause pigmentation, like smoking, sun exposure, or certain cosmetics, the results can last a long time. However, you may need maintenance sessions once or twice a year if you notice any color returning.
